In case you are curious, the 40GB VSL Opus 1+2 samples come out as 109GB in soundfont format. Good gravy! Well time for a new hard drive anyway.

This is a short track with quiet strings. It sounds somewhat similar in style to what you hear on Ghost Whisperer and other similar shows.
On CSI and other shows, it seems to be very ‘hip’ to make a rising loud sound right at the end of a scene before commercials. How do they do it? Well it’s basically a ‘pluck’ sound playing back in reverse. You can do it with the free program Audacity.
Step 1: Generate a ‘Pluck’
Step 2: Select a low pitch. I used MIDI 20 here, and two seconds in length.
It will sound something like this:
Step 3: Once you have your pluck, simply reverse it so it plays backwards.
Step 4: There is no step four. That’s it! Feel free to double this / add effects / scary music, as needed.
Here is the raw reversed pluck:
Instant dramatic tv cut scene!
And Finally! Here is a simple version made from the above ‘pluck’ sounds from Audacity:
Busy with the baby stuff! Little guy is ready to start crawling soon.
